About Me

The picture above represents a large part of what made me who I am today.
Basketball saved my life—there is no other way around it.

My early life experiences were not easy, and basketball became more than something I loved. It was something I needed. It helped me survive, gave me an escape on the days I wanted to disappear, and offered hope when I couldn’t see any light. I was the first person in my family to graduate from college because of basketball and earning a full-ride scholarship. It opened doors I never imagined possible.

And still, basketball only carried me so far.

Eventually, the same things I was running from caught up with me. I had to learn how to live—and how to be present—without it. We all have “things” that help us survive. Sometimes they serve us, and sometimes they don’t. What I learned through my own healing journey is that there is more to life than just surviving. Life isn’t black and white—it is full of color, alive, and meaningful. Learning to feel “in color” can be scary and overwhelming at first, but it is also where life begins to open.

If there is one thing I want you to know about me, it is that I strive to be authentic. I won’t judge you. I get it, and I can hold space for you because I have done my own work. You are valued, appreciated, and capable of healing. I believe that deeply.

Professionally, I earned my Master’s Degree in Counseling in Washington State in 2006 and have worked in the mental health field for nearly 20 years. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and have experience in eating disorder treatment, substance use treatment and working with individuals experiencing serious mental illness. I have supported people navigating depression, anxiety, identity exploration, mood disorders, relationship challenges, and chronic illness.

I am especially drawn to working with individuals who have experienced trauma. I completed the three-year Somatic Experiencing® training program and am a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I also am deeply committed to offering an affirming, inclusive space for the LGBTQIA+ community. Currently, I am enrolled in the Polaris Institute’s Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy training program and draw from CBT and DBT when appropriate.
